This involved installing the first two of several Flood Adaptive Platforms that we’ll be supplying to site owner Kevin Hind. We also installed FloodAdapt, our highly advanced flood early warning system, at the site to provide him with highly accurate updates as a flood event unfolds, enabling people to evacuate safely before flooding actually occurs.
Our team of flood risk experts fitted two existing single-unit caravans with Flood Adaptive Platforms to give them the unique ability to detect and react to flood conditions by automatically elevating above the rising water. As well as helping Kevin to future-proof his business against the growing flood risk that we face here in the UK, this also made it possible for him to access full flood insurance cover for these caravans through Compass.
We’re please to report that our technology was automatically activated successfully on several occasions during the winter of 2025/2026, keeping people safe and protecting the two caravans from flooding.
We will be returning to the site later this year (2026) to implement a second phase of work, which will involve rolling our award-winning technology out to several other pitches as part of a scaleable, site-wide flood resilience strategy.
Kevin Hind of Weir Caravan Park, said: “As a riverside holiday park, knowing that Compass will insure our caravans once we’ve installed Flood Technology Group’s innovative products gives us peace of mind. Our close proximity to the river is one of the main reasons that people enjoy visiting our caravan park but, with climate change increasing the level of flood risk that we face here in the UK, it was important to future-proof our business.
“The Flood Technology Group team are incredibly knowledgable and were able to advise us on the best approach to suit our needs. The installation was quick, easy and caused minimal mess and disruption. We believe that this type of cutting edge technology is the way forward for sites like ours; it’s undoubtedly the best way to protect people and property.”
Simon Gilliland, Chief Executive of Flood Technology Group, said: “The first phase of this project was delivered in close collaboration with Kevin, the site’s owner, with Flood Technology Group providing flood risk expertise, system design, installation, and commissioning. The work was completed efficiently, and with minimal disruption to site operations. By combining FloodAdapt, our flood warning system, with our ground-breaking Flood Adaptive Platform, we’ve been able to deliver an intelligent, automated solution that protects people, property, and business continuity. Weir Caravan Park is now a demonstration site for flood-resilient holiday accommodation in the UK.”
